ABA

What is ABA?

Behavior Analysis is a comprehensive, scientific approach that seeks to understand how learning takes place by examining the relationship between the environment and behavior. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services are an evidence-based approach that helps individuals develop communication, language, social, and other adaptive skills, while also reducing behaviors that may interfere with learning and daily life. ABA services are implemented by teams of Board Certified Behavior Analysts and Registered Behavior Technicians. The goal of treatment is to make use environmental modifications and principles of learning to produce meaningful changes in terms of your child’s skills and abilities.

Our Approach

Guided by our core values - Cultivation, Compassion, Collaboration, and Candor - we build strong partnerships with families and clinicians to deliver thoughtful, responsible care and meaningful outcomes. We aim to increase independence while enhancing the overall quality of life for both the individual and their family. We work with learners diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental needs, focusing on practical skills that promote success at home, in school, and in the community.

Services We Provide

As part of the intake process, our team will conduct an initial assessment to identify treatment objectives and develop a customized treatment plan. This process evaluates your child’s current skills, needs, and level of care using various assessment tools (e.g., PEAK, VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R) tailored to their unique profile.

Based on the assessment results, the BCBA will recommend one of the following treatment programs:

  • Focused Treatment Programs:

    • Typically prescribe 10–20 hours of ABA therapy per week.

    • Target specific skill deficits in a few developmental domains. For instance increasing perspective taking and refining social skills.

  • Comprehensive Treatment Programs:

    • Typically prescribe 25+ hours of ABA therapy per week.

    • Address skill deficits across multiple developmental domains for broader developmental progress.

The specific dosage of therapy is tailored to the individual and determined collaboratively with the family. Any changes in treatment intensity, duration, or frequency will be discussed during team meetings to ensure caregiver understanding and agreement.

Your active participation and collaboration are essential to ensuring meaningful progress in therapy and helping your child apply new skills beyond session time. Consistent support at home and in the community helps maximize the benefits of ABA therapy and align treatment with your family’s values and goals. A key part of ABA services is consulting with you to help you continue your child’s growth and progress outside of therapeutic sessions with respect to your needs and context.
